The Angel Ride will be raising money for the Lavender Trust in memory of Heidi Beer who lost her life to breast cancer at the age of 29.
Thanks to the Lavender Trust, Breast Cancer Care has developed unique services designed to help meet the needs of younger women. They rely on donations to expand these services, which includeweekend workshops for younger women held around the UK called ‘Younger Women’s Forums’ .
Younger women’s forums are two-day residential events for up to 40 women from across the UK to meet and share their experiences of breast cancer. As well as offering a welcoming space to share experiences, women under the age of 45 who have been diagnosed can also access the latest information on health, lifestyle and wellbeing.
The forum is designed to relate specifically to the needs of younger women, covering issues of particular concern to them. Here are some quotes from women who have been on the weekend workshops.
'Just so wonderful to meet others in my situation & know you’re not the only one going through this difficult journey. And gain support & advice.Thank you. '
'Please do more of these. It has been a fantastic experience especially meeting so many lovely women who we will hopefully meet again. We hope to set up a support group in our area due to the people we have met. Thank you very much. '
I felt very comfortable with ladies & I feel I have learnt a lot about myself & other younger women. I even took my wig off – didn’t think I’d be able to do that! Thank you.
The Lavender Trust also offers
one-to-one support from younger women with experience of breast cancer
free publications looking at medical and emotional issues of particular concern to younger women
a set of 'standards of care' designed to make sure that the specialist needs of younger women are not overlooked during breast cancer treatment.
Please support us in anyway that you can by donating on our fundraising page
